TOP STORIES
UH
builds Cougar pride
What makes a great University is even
greater traditions, and Texas students do it bigger and better. The Aggies
have Bonfire, the 12th Man and Midnight Yell (just to name a few of the
hundreds). Longhorns take pride in the University of Texas tower lighting,
Hex Rally and "Eyes of Texas." UH is of course home to Frontier Fiesta
and the Cougar Kickoff.
Coming
out is all about sass
I went to the Gay Pride Parade on Saturday, and one thing
stood out above the countless rainbow flags. It was a place where people
dropped all masks and were decidedly real. Anticipation of the parade combined
with the Westheimer Street Festival to create an atmosphere in which even
the most timid closet case could sway his hips and say something sassy.
Taylor
marks down his 'Perfect 10'
UH head swimming coach Mark Taylor
didn't want to, but, alas, they were already out of his hands. He could
never embrace five-time NCAA champ Yulia Pakhalina, at least as a diver
for his swimming program, again.
Stripes
slap crowd with crisp sounds
The last time the White Stripes came
to Houston they were beginning to break into the mainstream with their
album White Blood Cells. They ended up selling out tiny Rudyard's,
and with an eager crowd hoping to snag a spot inside. The group returned
Tuesday, this time playing at the Verizon Wireless Theatre, and once again
selling out the venue.
