Gogue gets regents' nod for UH presidency
At its specially called meeting Tuesday, the Board of Regents approved the appointment of Jay Gogue to succeed Arthur K. Smith as UH system chancellor and university president, officially sealing the deal and ending a national search that cost less than $140,000 according to search committee expense reports.

Do not feed the celebrities
 have noticed the people who get the most attention and the most coverage, or time, in the limelight are those who really haven't done anything.

Cubs, Cards, and 'Stros make Comedy Central
Ordinarily, a tight division race between three teams makes for some exciting late-summer baseball. As of Tuesday night, a mere three games separated Houston, St. Louis and Chicago in the National League Central. But none of the three can be considered among the league's best. For every step forward each team takes, they take another two steps back.

Gray's performance is rich with hypnotism, seduction
Don't let David Gray fool you. He may produce albums full of pretty singer/songwriter pop gems (or "secretary rock" as some call it), but he just uses that as bait to draw you to his concerts, where he then turns your favorite tune into a 10-minute wall of lush noise, rich with seduction and hypnotism.
