GOP comes out ahead 
in top Texas race
Democratic hopes for a new face in Texas politics were wiped away Tuesday night after Republican Rick Perry handily won the governor's race and Democrat Ron Kirk narrowly missed his chance at the U.S. Senate. The tallying of votes dragged on late into the night, leaving many state and national races too close to call.
 

Religion's not worth fighting over
When we were all young, innocent children, "religion" was simple. Chances are your religion while growing up was identical to that of your parents. If your parents were Catholic, you were Catholic. If your parents were Muslim, you were Muslim. If your parents were not religious, you probably werenit either. Things get complex when we become capable of making the choice ourselves.
 

UH aims for C-USA goal
The drive for five consecutive Conference USA womenis soccer tournaments was secured with a last-second score Sunday. Now, the No. 6 Cougar team begins advancing toward its goal of making it past the first round as it meets No. 3 East Carolina at 2:30 p.m. today in Charlotte, N.C.
