Out with the old: Construction
workers take the sign off the Wendy's restaurant on Cullen Boulevard on
Saturday morning. The restaurant is closed, and it is set to be demolished
this week. That part of the fast-food chain is moving into a new location
on Scott Street, which hasn't opened yet.
For a few brief hours, the Houston Cougars had the longest
losing streak in the nation. After Duke beat East Carolina, 23-16, to end
the Blue Devils' 23-game losing streak, the Cougars' streak of 15 consecutive
defeats was the worst in the nation.

The film, 24 Hour Party People, opens with a young
Johnny Rotten and his band The Sex Pistols performing their first concert
in front of 42 people. The narrator and main character, Tony Wilson, explains
how The Sex Pistols will be historic, and he hopes to find his own historic
punk band with two friends.
