Freshmen taste good: As if long lines weren't enough to keep students out of the E. Cullen Building, the University just added a pair of ferocious looking cougars to keep guard. Donated by John J. and Rebecca Moores the male and female statues were sculpted by R.T. "Skip" Allen.

The University will turn over a new leaf this fall when Jay Gogue steps up to become UH system chancellor and university president, beginning next week.

Fall Cinema Preview
The cinema's landscape will soon be dripping with directors on the rise and Oscar contenders. Sprinkle that with some J.R.R. Tolkien and Jack Black and you get a nice blend of Hollywood's finest. Of course, audiences and critics will have the final say. But with names like Rodriguez, Inarritu, Penn and Tarantino on tap, it's hard to foresee filmgoers being deprived of a healthy slate of movies.
