Talk to the hand: UH's American Sign Language Club held a picnic
near the E. Cullen Building on a sunny Wednesday afternoon so members could
practice their hand signs. Among those attending were, from left to right,
interpreter Robert Helms, junior English student Jason Spencer, post-baccalaureate
biochemistry student Raul Gonzalez and junior history student Jordan Nassar.
Because of increased student retention, UH's fall enrollment
hit 35,066 students this fall, but less than 10 percent of that is new
freshmen, officials said.
