Just a tiny prick: Michele Crush, a senior philosophy major, receives her flu shot at the UH Health Center on Wednesday afternoon from Chief Nurse Pamella Hoffmeister. The center is offering an $11 dollar flu shot to all faculty, staff and students. The center administered 450 doses of the vaccine in just two days, but has more on order.


Officials defend '04 tuition increase
University officials told student leaders there was a direct correlation between decreased state funding and the rising cost of higher education during a meeting Wednesday to explain a recent hike in tuition.

Unlike cash, oil is guaranteed
Where should your tax money go to in the next few years? According to the direction of your leaders, probably not back in your or your parents' pockets. At least Houston gets featured in columns worldwide. Today's headlines all concern Houston-based oilfield and construction company KBR, formerly known as Kellogg Brown & Root, a Halliburton subsidiary once run by Vice President Dick Cheney.

Clawing for the top
The Cougars hope to get back on the winning track Saturday and jump into the thick of the Liberty Bowl race, when they face the undefeated Conference USA defending champion Texas Christian Horned Frogs at Robertson Stadium. Kickoff is at 7 p.m.

Playhouse thinks outside the box
The bustling Interstate Highway 10/Sam Houston Tollway area, dominated by trendy stores and big-name chain restaurants, seems like an unlikely environment for a small theater named the Country Playhouse.
