Gogue answers staff's questions
UH staff members quizzed President Jay Gogue and his cabinet on a host of issues -- mainly financial -- during the Staff Council 2003 Fall Forum on Thursday, and left the meeting with promises the administration would examine reduced employee tuition, expand distance education and, according to one official, "definitely" build a parking garage.
 

Entering job market can be tough
Ah, the weather's getting colder, classes are almost over and something in the air is different. It can only mean one thing: The holiday season is here. And with the holidays sneaking up on us poor college students, many of us will need to re-enter the working scene. Job-thirsty enthusiasts are probably already on the prowl just to get a jumpstart on the competition. But competition aside, something else is standing between students and their minimum wage vacation. I just can't figure out what it is.
 

PIVA Perfection 
Cinthia Piva is a fast learner.
She learned to speak English only two years ago but has already mastered the language, tossing in the occasional American slang word to complement her careful, perfect English. Growing up in Brazil, she spoke only Portuguese her entire life until coming to the United States.
