Briles bags bucket: Cougars head coach Art Briles hoists the Bayou Bucket over his triumphant team after trouncing cross-town rival Rice 48-14 in the annual Bayou Bucket game. Briles won his debut game in convincing fashion with an explosive offense, exciting special teams and solid defense.

It may be that Gov. Rick Perry is too preoccupied with the "Texas 11" to worry about UH's three regents whose terms expired Sunday. None of the regents will be stepping down any time soon because Perry has yet to appoint any replacements.

A band name like The New Pornographers conjures up images of several immature guys singing about body parts and sexual puns. Thankfully, that's not the kind of band that came to Fat Cat's on Saturday. Instead, The New Pornographers is an indie "supergroup" that brings together members from several bands for a densely structured indie-pop sound.
