Prof now oversees program at NSF
UH mathematics professor Giles Auchmuty has taken a two-year appointment at the National Science Foundation, where he will be the program manager in charge of administering grants to researchers and mathematicians working with partial differential equations.

Soft news makes for soft viewers
If I were Catholic, maybe I'd be more concerned. But the fact that the pope, an 81-year-old man, had a tracheotomy just didn't seem to warrant an hour of Special Edition CNN coverage last Friday. I know he's close, but the pope is not Jesus Christ.
