Cougar News Services
Martin Scott, a former English lecturer at UH, was found dead Thursday at his home in Charleston, Ill. He was 46.
The Daily Eastern News of Eastern Illinois University, where Scott was an English professor, reported that a group of friends visiting Scott found him collapsed in the hallway of his house. Though an autopsy was performed Friday, the results won't be released for two or three weeks.
Scott earned his master's degree from the University of Iowa and his doctorate from UH. From 1995 to 2002, he taught here and at Houston Community College.
In 2002, Scott went to Eastern Illinois, where he became a professor of creative writing, poetry and American literature.
Illinois authorities said no foul play was apparent
in Scott's death.
