Police on hunt for assault suspects
Three men sought in attempted robbery near Cambridge Oaks
Cougar News Staff
UH police are still searching for information on three black men who assaulted and attempted to rob a student Sunday morning at Cambridge Oaks.
Two students were walking near the apartment complex's entrance gate at 12:40 a.m. Sunday, when a red Jeep stopped and a man in the back seat asked one of the students for change for a $20 bill, according to police reports.
When the student replied he did not have change, the man jumped out of the open Jeep and struck the student on the left temple with his fist.
Two other people got out of the Jeep and began hitting the student. During the assault, the first suspect attempted to steal the student's wallet, but the student began yelling and the suspects fled the scene in the Jeep.
The principal attacker was described as 6 feet, 3 inches tall, wearing a white shirt and black shorts. The victim was unable to provide police with descriptions of the other two men, UH police Lt. Rita Bazile said Wednesday.
Bazile said police still lack good leads on the identity of the suspects.
Anyone with information on the incident should call
UHPD at (713) 743-3333 or using an emergency call box on campus.
