Gameday: During Houston's season opener, junior quarterback Kevin Kolb contributed to the Cougar's impressive 21-17 halftime finish, while throwing a total of 312 yards and two touchdowns. Unfortunately, the Ducks rebounded in the second half, keeping UH's output to only three points.

University officials decided Thursday to offer college students displaced by Hurricane Katrina an opportunity to attend classes at UH System schools and waive application fees, as well as offer in-state tuition to Louisiana students.

Houston's lead evaporated in the second half of Thursday's season opener against Oregon, where the Cougars fell 38-24 in front of 19,981 fans at Reliant Stadium.
