Gogue: Katrina victims
University officials decided Thursday
to offer college students displaced by Hurricane Katrina an opportunity
to attend classes at UH System schools and waive application fees, as well
as offer in-state tuition to Louisiana students.
Students enrich their vactions
For some UH students, summer break meant heading back
home, finding a summer job or internship, or forgetting about school. To
others, it was an opportunity to experience foreign cultures while earning
credit towards their major.
'Honor' key word at ceremony
A soft piano melody graced the air
of the University Hilton Grand Ballroom as students and guests of The Honors
College gathered to acknowledge 150 scholarship recipients Wednesday, anticipating
the announcement of the college's 12 Outstanding First Year Student Award
winners at the 26th annual Honors College Fall Convocation.
