The track and field team will travel to Baton Rouge, La., Saturday to compete in the Louisiana State University Alumni Gold Invitational.
Last week the Cougars registered 11 first-place victories at the Brutus Hamilton Invitational in Berkeley, Calif. However, UH will be facing much stiffer competition this time around when it takes on the LSU men's and women's teams, both of whom are ranked in the top 10 nationally.
Conference USA Track and Field Athlete of the Week Ebonie Floyd will compete in Saturday's LSU Alumni Gold Invitational. The junior sprinter had the fourth fastest 200-meter time in the nation in last week's meet.

Following a dominant performance at last week's Miami Elite Invitational, the LSU men jumped two spots to Trackwire's No. 2 position with 48 points.
The Lady Tigers are currently ranked No. 7 in the nation. Individually, the LSU men and women have a combined 14 athletes and four relay teams ranked among the nation's top 12 this week.
LSU senior Kelly Willie, a 16-time All-American, is the nation's top-ranked 400-meter sprinter. His teammate, All-American sophomore Xavier Carter is the top-ranked 200-meter sprinter. Earlier this week Carter was named the Southeastern Conference Men's Track Athlete of the Week for the third time this season.
In Miami, Carter ran in his first 200-meter race of the outdoor season and blew away the competition, crossing the finish line with a first-place time of 20.13 seconds.
The time was the fastest in the world in the event this season and was just .11 seconds off his school-record mark of 20.02.
On the women's side, the Lady Tiger's 4x100 and 4x400-meter relay teams are both ranked No. 2.
So far this season, the LSU men's 4x100-meter relay team, composed of Carter, Willie, Richard Thompson and Marvin Stevenson, is undefeated.
Along with UH, other schools that will be competing in the meet include South Florida, Louisiana Tech, Tulane, Southern Miss, Rice and Texas A&M, among others.
This weekend's meet will be held at the Bernie Moore
Track Stadium on the LSU campus. It will be the final home meet of the
2006 season for the Tigers.
