The group in charge of finding candidates for the position of UH vice president for research submitted July 6 a list of names to President and UH Chancellor Jay Gogue.

Monte Pettitt, who chairs the search committee and the group, proposed the following four candidates to Gogue:

  • Donald Birx, interim vice president for research, New Mexico State University
  • Michael Dockter, former vice chancellor for Research, University of Tennessee Health Science Center
  • Michael Harold, Department of Chemical Engineering chair, UH
  • Neal Pellis, Science Management associate director, NASA-Johnson Space Center
Provost Donald Foss was appointed July 1 to fill the position on an interim basis.

Arthur C. Valias left the vacancy when he accepted the position of president of Idaho State University.
