Not Rita's fault: Southbound lanes of Calhoun Road from University Drive to Wheeler Avenue are closed today because of a 20-inch water main that was damaged around noon Wednesday during construction to the parking garage at Calhoun and Wheeler. Water service was interrupted around campus Wednesday but is now restored.


Life returns to UH, Houston
After about 2.8 million people evacuated Houston and surrounding communities, Houston missed a direct hit from Category 3 Hurricane Rita as it made landfall at 2:30 a.m. Saturday just east of Sabine Pass.

DeLay lashes out when cornered
UH alumnus and former exterminator Rep. Tom DeLay, R-Texas, was indicted Wednesday on charges of criminal conspiracy dealing with campaign contributions given by corporations, including Sears Roebuck.
