Golfers travel west after lengthy break
UH to compete at Del Walker Intercollegiate;

The UH golf team will return to action today for the first 36 holes of the Del Walker Intercollegiate in Long Beach, Calif.
The Cougars will do battle on the 6,631-yard, par-71 course at Virginia Country Club, along with a stellar field including Colorado State, Kansas, Lamar, Nevada, North Texas, San Jose State, Texas-El Paso, Texas-San Antonio, California-Santa Barbara, Washington State and host Long Beach State.
The 54-hole tournament will end Friday when the final 18 holes will be played.
Junior Pablo Acuna leads the Cougar golf team so far this season with a 71.9 scoring average. Acuna's best finish was at the Kansas Invitational, where he placed second, which was also the Cougars' best individual finish of the fall semester. Junior Ricky Romano is second on the team with a 72.2 scoring average
The Cougars' last tournament saw them finish seventh at the Louisiana Tech/Squire Creek Invitational Oct. 17 and 18 in Choudrant, La. Romano led the way for the Cougars, shooting 1-over-par 217 to tie for 14th place.
A year ago, The Cougars finished the competition
at the Del Walker Intercollegiate in a tie for sixth place with a team
score of 880. Romano once again was at the helm of the Cougars and led
the team with a 1-over-par 213 to tie for sixth place on the individual
